2009 - A Brush With Verse Art Prize - Winners

ART AWARDS Nola Taylor of Glen Innes won the $2,000 Shire acquisitive award for a work titled Framed -Black Tommy’s Gold,  which hints of Thunderbolts lost treasure. The acrylic, charcoal collage work is based on a poem by the late Colin Newsome, a bush poet also from Glen Innes who died last year age 91Major open prize ($450 –TDG Accountants) - Barry Patterson of Tenterfield for Clouds & Waterweeds. * Highly commended Peter Porteous (Sydney)  for Counter Attack

Minor open Prize Bronwyn Mckean of Brisbane - ($300 – Commonwealth Bank) for Northern Tablelands Night. *Highly Commended Terry McKean (Glen Innes)  for Another Man's Rain

Ray White Rural Regional Painting Prize -  Anni Washington of Tenterfield for Something Utterly New. * Highly commended Maryse Ledru (Stanthorpe) for Kookaburra .Textile Feature ($100 – Margot Rees Antiques) to Sharman Parsons  (Maryvale Qld) for Coonyin-nirrrai’s Tears. Highly commended Sue Jurd (Tenterfield)  and Sheryl Wright’s Silk purse (of pigs ear) gained a special mention.

New Media – ($100 Braidie’s Homemakers) to Angela Moore (Lismore) for Child of War. *Highly Commended Gail Galloway's Submerged, special mention Barb Fraser (Tenterfield)

Best 3D – ($200 - Mitre 10) to Yoko Watson (Lismore) for In Flight.  Highly Commended Heather Gregg (Stanthorpe)

Hangers Prize ($100 -Town & Counry Glass) selected by art prize volunteers, was awarded to local Linda Nye for her landscape - The Alice.

People's Choice - ($300 Country Energy ) to be decided by audience vote mid month  

POETRY  AWARDS Open Poetry – ($250 Westlawn Finance) - Maureen Halloran of Glen Innes for Family TiesBest Regional – ($100 BJS Constructions) to Fiona Cuninghame (ex Deepwater) for WoolBest Artist’s Poem  ($100 – Settlers Motel) to Geoff Norris of Currabubula for the Clearing Sale Auctioneer
